Milan design week 2015. Italian brand Moroso presented Glider, Ron Arad’s bulbous sofa that combines fun and sensuality, function and stage presence concentrated in a generous, full, bold form. The Israeli designer carved a single volumious body of foam to give shape to a chubby couch that comes in shaded coloured textile by Dutch company Febrik.

Ron Arad says “The challenge was not to build a traditional sofa with back, seat and armrests, but to start from a single volume, a single piece, and model it to make it as a comfortable as a classic sofa”.

The tub was then formed in a sort of cut which shapes the front part of the sofa, outlining soft and welcoming lines, to which a rocking structure can be added to transform the sofa into a swing, combining the experience of movement with comfort.

A hidden metal frame supports the foam chubbiness whilst a rounded steel frame makes the sofa rock back and forth. Glider is upholstered with the Blurshaded fabric, produced by FEBRIKexclusively for Moroso, in the red-purple colourway and white-indigo. FEBRIK is a new brand in the world of interior textiles, developing, producing and selling high end knitted upholstery textiles.

Moroso 2015 collection features also Matrizia, a sofa by Ron Arad that is inspired by an abandoned mattress on the street. Amogst the deisgner involved by Patrizia Moroso for the 2015 edition we would like to mention David Adjaye, Federica Capitani, Daniel Libeskind, Patricia Urquiola and more.

Glider is the latest product of a long-standing collaboration by the London based estabilished designer Ron Arad and Moroso[7]. “Little Albert” chair is indeed the iconic seating by Ron Arad that the Italian brand launched in 2002.
